Monetary gifts to Rice Hospice make care possible for patients without insurance. They also help bridge the gap between the actual cost of patient care and insurance reimbursement allowances. Philanthropic gifts also cover the expenses for special programs such as Sentimental Journey, grief support for children and adults, and Canine Care for the Journey.
A memorial gift to Rice Hospice honors the memory of someone who touched your life in a special way. Often, families ask for memorials to hospice in funeral notices as a way of honoring loved ones. Many people also make annual memorial contributions to remember the birthday or anniversary of a loved one. At your request, your gift will be acknowledged with a letter that will be sent to family members.
You can help support Rice Hospice programs and patient care at the same time you express your appreciation or love and respect for a living family member, friend, co-worker, or another special person. Such a contribution is a thoughtful way to remember someone’s birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. At your request, the person honored by your contribution will receive a letter acknowledging your gift to Rice Hospice.
A planned gift is a contribution that is arranged during the giver’s lifetime, but may not be received in its entirety by Rice Hospice until after the donor’s death. A planned gift is often made through a will, but can also be made in other ways such as through a life insurance policy or a trust. Planned gifts may be in the form of cash, real estate, stocks, or other assets. Planned giving allows you to make a major gift to Rice Hospice and retain spendable income.
Endowment Fund Gifts
The Rice Hospice Endowment Fund was established in 2006 to help secure the financial future of hospice and palliative care for the community. Gifts to the Rice Hospice Endowment Fund are invested to meet the future needs of patients and families facing life-limiting illness. The fund produces a stream of income to be used to meet ongoing expenses related to:
- patient care,
- capital and equipment expenditures,
- technology maintenance and upgrades,
- special projects and program funding
Donations to Rice Hospice are held by Rice Health Foundation until withdrawn and allocated to Rice Hospice programs.
